The average weather in Portofino during the month of July is 25C. The evenings can be surprisingly chilly, so do not forget to pack a shawl or an extra jumper.

If you plan to stay in Portofino, as opposed to Santa Margherita Ligure you will discover that finding parking space is a nuisance. If you’re travelling with children and would prefer to have your own car to navigate the Riviera, try to focus on hotels in Santa Margarita.

La Cervara : The Cervara Abbey is situated on a sheer cliff between Santa Margherita and Portofino. The abbey was founded in 1361 by a small group of Benedictine monks and in its 7 centuries of history it has seen peaks of great splendor and lows of decline, which is reflected in the various architectural transformations of the building.

By Air

• Genoa Airport : 45 minutes by car from Portofino and Santa Margherita Ligure.
• Pisa Airport : approximately 1 hour and 50 minutes away from Portofino by car
• Milan Malpensa Airport has the highest number of direct routes from the most destinations. It is a 2 hour drive to Portofino. Given that so many of you have already decided to fly to Milan, we are looking into organising buses for Wednesday evening for everyone. With this in mind, let us know if Milan is your chosen airport.

By Sea

In addition to private moorings in Portofino’s port, excellent ferry and boat services are available in Santa Margherita, Rapallo, and the Cinque Terre.
